Todd has been in the truck repair industry since the early 90’s and has over 35 years of experience. In 1997, Scheffer Truck Service opened for business in Dutchtown, MO. Their 4 bay shop serviced trucks from all over the area. Despite a flood in 2008 and no room for expansion, Todd and his wife, Deborah worked countless hours, nights, and weekends, to overcome all obstacles to make Scheffer Truck Service, Inc. what it is today. Today, Scheffer Truck Service, Inc. is now located in Cape Girardeau, MO and has 15 bays, plenty of Technicians and the support staff to better serve their customers to get them back on the road as fast as possible. Their daughter and son-in-law both work at the shop full time as well.
Overall, our family dynamic brings a personal, friendly feel to the heavy-duty business of diesel repair.
At Scheffer Truck Service, our most important accomplishment was finishing our new shop in Cape Girardeau. Todd planned the layout of the building for several years prior to its actual construction, designing the facility to be as efficient as possible and specifically adapting every angle and aspect for truck repair. And now we’re proud to say our facility is as efficient as you could possibly make a truck shop. It is packed full of insulation, heated with waste oil, and cool or hot air (depending on the season) is circulated with our two 20’ ceiling fans. In 2012, we even installed a 25-kilowatt solar system onto our roof to generate approximately half of our electricity. In early 2018, we became one of the first air-conditioned shops in the area.
The bottom line at Scheffer Truck Service, Inc. is that we care. We care about the world around us, our community, our customers, and our employees. We work hard to make sure our customers and our employees feel heard, and if a member of our team has an idea to improve our shop in any way, nine times out of 10 it gets implemented immediately. In December of 1992, Todd graduated from Nashville Auto Diesel College as class valedictorian and received the prestigious Craftsman Award. After graduation, he moved back home and began working at several fleet repair shops and dealerships around Cape Girardeau. Todd eventually became an ASE Master Truck Technician as well as a Missouri State Inspector and a certified Hy-Rail Inspector. Todd and Deborah married in December of 1993. When Marissa was born a couple of years later, Deborah left her job at an insurance agent’s office to focus on raising their daughter.
In 1997, Todd and Deborah decided it was time for him to go on his own. They opened Scheffer Truck Service, Inc. in Dutchtown, MO. By 2008, they had outgrown their shop and were tired of battling the yearly floodwaters, so they moved a mile up the road to their current facility. Well, it turned out to be the right move, and Scheffer Truck Service had enough regular business by 2014 to add six more bays.
Today, the Scheffers have a true “family business” even though their daughter Marissa has technically worked in the business since she was old enough to walk. Marissa joined the team full time in June 2016 after graduating from Murray State University. Their son-in-law joined the team in May of 2018 after he also graduated from Murray State University. We welcomed our third generation to the business in 2021 and 2023. Ollie and Sophie keep our customers smiling.
